deep blue [screens]

This series of 10 x 12 monochrome oil paintings is named after the IBM’s Deep Blue who was (amongst other things) the first computer to defeat the chess grandmaster Gary Kasparov in 1996. These paintings of ‘water’ draw from a collection of desktop backgrounds and product images that imagine the virtual space of the computer as a dive into the real deep blue.
