Relentless Logic

This modular house of cards sculpture features images from the first Solitaire game on the computer. The images are accompanied by quotations from prominent Silicon Valley technologists through the last  four decades drawn from disparate contexts.  Relentless Logic draws its name from an early text-based computer game where you played as a US Marine, making your way through a minefield using logical deduction. This became the inspiration for the game Minesweeper alongside Microsoft Solitaire. These games were built into Windows operating systems to teach novice computer users how to use the ‘mouse’. The pixelated corners on these sculptural cards draw from  the imperfect translation of “rounded corners” in the first solitaire game.
